You'll note that I've dropped out the actual test figures, and so FrostyTech is only showing the final rise above ambient temperature results in heatsink reviews from now on. With the number of heatsinks we have reviewed, the list was simply getting too long; and given the choice of keeping one long list of comparative heatsink results, or two shorter ones, we chose the former.

Information not expressly stated anymore concerns the pre-applied thermal pad (we remove this for testing any way), the number of fans, general fan noise and clip force observations, and ambient temperature.

As always, Frosty's Synthetic Temperature Test results for the Socket A AthlonXP platform are grouped according to the results of the 100W test die.

While the TTIC NPH-201 is indeed quieter than the Vantec VA4-7245 heatsink, it is by no means as good a performer in the thermal department. This is somewhat surprising, given the generally good thermal test results we have seen from pervious heatsinks applying the heat column concept.

Its swept copper fins look somewhat like the Albatross in motherboard manufacturer, Albatron's logo. Yet, with twin fans, one 70mm in size and the other 80mm in size, the TTIC NPH-201 still only just manages acceptable performance in this list of reference heatsinks.

Ultimately, our expectations are left a little wanting. While the TTIC NPH-201 will cool a stock AthlonXP processor just fine, it certainly doesn't have the headroom to handle overclocking, and perhaps even excessively warm case temperatures. Bottom line; there are more compact, and more readily available heatsinks to choose from that illustrate better thermal performance. That makes the TTIC NPH-201 a tough sell in spite of its innovative technology.
