Heatsink From All Angles |

The Top:
Looking at the
top of the heatsink we can see the 25mm diameter heat column popping out,
and covered with a red plastic cap. The anodized aluminum fan shroud is
constructed such that it only attaches to the base plate. It
holds the 70mm, and 80mm fans about 4mm away from the
edges of the copper fins. |

Heatsink Detail:
Each fan is mounted on one side of the NPH-201
heatsink so air moves parallel to the 30 or so copper fins. The fans
are mounted in a push-pull configuration, and each connect via a standard
three-pin motherboard header.
The copper fins are 0.2mm thick and spaced about 2mm apart. The fins are also cut with a leaf pattern to lessen resistance at
specific points. |

Side A:
The 80mm fan intakes air, and blows it
across the copper fins and heat
column. The 70mm fan is set up to pull air from the cooler and exhaust it outwards. Since the sides of the heatsink are left open, there should be little problem with back pressure. |

Side B:
From this angle we can get a better view of how the 70mm and 80mm fans are arranged. Since the sides of the NPH-201 are open,
air can move in and out of the heatsink as pressure dictates. The lower 20mm height
of the column is free of fins to provide clearance for the three-prong socket A clip to
move. |

Heatsink Base:
The base of the copper heat column is 32mm in
diameter, and consists of a 5mm thick disk of metal. It provides a good mounting point for the core
of the AhtlonXP processor, and is pretty flat. The metal frame of
the heatsink is attached directly to the base of the central copper column, and
offset for a perfect fit on those small silicon core's of
the Athlon. |
