Abstract: Given the 70mm size, the fan is remarkably un-quiet - which can only indicate that the Taisol CEP447181 isn't a pushover.

Loud (and powerful) fans make the best heatsinks better, and at worst make moderately good heatsinks, great. The Taisol CEP447181 falls somewhere in between these two distinctions. It isn't a bad heatsink by any means, but the simple extrusion design and reliance on a powerful fan hint at where the prowess is coming from.

With the tests complete we can see that the Taisol CEP447181 is a very good heatsink by all accounts. It performs in the upper ranges of this list of reference heatsinks and that is something we always like to see. Acoustically, the Taisol CEP447181 comes in towards the bottom (louder) ranks. It manages to stay below 60 dB in our tests, but not by all that much.

Given the great performance the extruded aluminum Taisol CEP447181 was able to deliver I'd still recommend the heatsink - but only for commercial, or office applications. The days of putting up with loud whinny noises coming from the home PC are just about over, and there is no reason to settle for a heatsink that causes such an acoustic distraction.

Bottom line, good for the office or commercial applications, not my first choice for a home computer at all. The only exception would be for the overclocking crowd where CPU thermals are more important to most individuals than clam and quiet. ;-)
