The temperature results are good for the CS1672A, but the real question remains if they will be high enough to keep this heatsink out of the middle of the road segment where price points are key. A good heatsink is great, but one that costs half has much usually wins the game. Let's jump ahead and look at the final rise above ambient temperatures.

Coming in at just about dead center illustrates that perhaps TMD fans are better suited to pin-based heatsinks. The TMD fan exhausts a more even, and more consistent flow of air into the top of the heatsink, but the pressure is not as strong as with a more conventional fan. On the other hand, conventional fans can create hot spots directly under the fan's motor if the heatsink fins are not properly designed.

While the noise output is a little on the high end, the TMD fan doesn't create a very high-pitched noise signature. Bottom line, the Coolsonic CS1672A is a good heatsink that should be capable on just about any AthlonXP model, but isn't really suited for high end overclocking. The concepts are sound, and the heatsink almost 100% copper, but to be classed as a performance heatsink these days requires a lot more "oomph!"
