All the copper plating, and chrome plating kind of put us off a bit. We've seen too many examples of heatsink which use plating to try and persuade the consumer that they have more copper, and hence more performance. Most of the time the complete opposite is true so it is a bit surprising at first to see that the Titan TTC-CU5TB manages some relatively decent cooling performance.

We'll have to check out the rise above ambient results to see how it really stands up to the current crop of Socket A heatsinks however, so let's go right to that.

With just about dead-center performance results the Titan TTC-Cu5TB surpised us even. The heatsink would be good on any system where overclocking is not on the horizon. We would be a bit concerned with longevity if the fan shroud was a bit wobbly, as there is slim chance that the whole package could come loose - so if you are considering this heatsink have a look there first.

The overdone-plating of the Titan TTC-CU5TB really makes it seem less impressive than its actual performance is (at least to us). I remember hearing one manufacturer talking about the different options a heatsink came it, natural, all copper, and gold plated. From what his sales figures were saying North Americans and Germans couldn't get enough of the copper and natural finish heatsinks, while Asian countries tended to favor the gold-plated variety. While that is a little different in this case it may indicate that the plating is there to capture the attention of Asian consumers - where Titan is more heavily marketed.

All in all the Titan TTC-CU5TB is pretty good heatsink, but not quite in the performance level on the small interface die. On the larger interface die at 100W the heatsink illustrates some better performance so perhaps it would be a good consideration for Celeron socket 370 processors.
