Cho-Liang CL0307U-17 Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:
Facing the world with a Powelogic fan the ChoLiang heatsink is moderately noisy, but not much more than a typical power supply might be. The fan draws just 0.22A and does not require any type of fan grill. A 3-pin connector hooks up to the motherboard fan header, and RPM monitoring is also supported.

Heatsink Top:
I have one really big issue with this ill-designed clip. There are no tabs to center it in the heatsink, and so it floats freely, allowing the heatsink to move around after installation a little to much. Mostly, the clip has a nasty way of getting stuck within the fins. The small thumb clip is pretty flexible, and the cut outs make engaging the clip a little tricky at times.

Side A:
The fins range in height from 20mm to 27mm in height and are ~0.75-1.0mm thick. Each fins is spaced ~1.5mm apart. The base plate at its thickest point is 10mm thick. Given that the clip is free to float within the channel it is important to ensure that the heatsink does not accidentally come to rest on the socket cam arm during installation.
Side B:
The side of the heatsink is essentially one unit, with a recessed area cut out to allow users a bit more room to manipulate the thumb clip. The clip is a rather simple design and not one that we were very impressed with. Cho-Liang could improve the heatsink greatly if they choose to use a higher quality clip.
Heatsink Base:
I have mixed feelings about the base of this heatsink because 1) it is plated with copper, and 2) it is simply the raw extrusion. Raw extrusions are never perfectly flat so it is a bit of a step backward to plate that surface. Given the markets that Cho-Liang are likely to be aiming for it wouldn't make much sense to machine the base, although that is something I would like to see.
