With two fans and a silver base we would have liked to have seen the Silverado place a little bit higher in the list of reference heatsinks. Keeping in mind that the aluminum heatsink component is kind of dated now, this is really not all that unexpected, but with that Silver plate you really just can't expect less then amazing.

At the very least the design is comparable to some much larger, and much heavier copper heatsinks so that is at least one positive to consider. Let's look now a the rise above ambient temperatures and see if things change any for the NosieControl Silverado.

A small change in the list of reference heatsinks but nothing that large. With a rise of just over 50 degrees over ambient the Silverado is a mid-level heatsink that fairs alright against typical (ie. non-quiet) heatsinks. Not quite a performance cooler, but not in the red either. The silver plate appears to be one of the largest benefits to this heatsink, and given the dated design of the aluminum component it makes you really wonder what could be accomplished if the silver were transplanted onto a more advanced design.

The Silverado is one of the more unique heatsinks to ever enter the market, and it can still cool quiet decently, but given the rather high retail price it commands at www.chillblast.com , you really have to think about why you might buy it. Users looking for a high-performance heatsink will find the Silverado is not quite up to expectations. Users looking for a good performance heatsink with low-noise properties (and lower frequency motor noises) will appreciate the Silverado and what it can do for them. Bottom line, the Silverado is still a good cooler, but NoiseControl really ought to upgrade the design to something a little more competitive!
