Vantec FCE-6030D Heatsink Review
We've never been able to
give up the chance of looking at a brand new heatsink, and the FCE-6030D was
just such an opportunity. A fresh heatsink design which has yet to be seen
anywhere, and more surprisingly, one which was all aluminum. With the growing trend towards all-copper designs, could an all-aluminum heatsink even compete?
This was the first
thought that had crossed our minds, but one which was soon settled as we
looked at the results from our tests. We found it interesting to note that with
this heatsink a high aspect ratio fin design was implemented. In the past
we've only ever seen this type of fin density on TEC-specific coolers. According
to Vantec, the fin design was chosen specifically to reduce the weight of the
heatsink, and to produce a more compact cooling design.
The FCE6030D uses a two-part
construction and a signature 6800RPM Delta fan. The Delta fan, as many of
you may already be aware, is one of the best performance 60mm fans out there,
but also kicks out a very shrill 46dBa of noise.
